Keeping up with AI without drowning in it

The feeling that you are falling behind is manufactured. It is the product being sold. Almost none of the news is about anything you could use, and the small part that is will still be there next month, because the useful things do not disappear.

The one question that filters everything

Does this change something I do on a Tuesday? If no, it is entertainment. Read it as entertainment or skip it, but do not read it as homework.

A new model being three percent better on a benchmark does not change your Tuesday. A tool getting the ability to read your photos does.

Three kinds of news, and only one matters

Scores and benchmarks. Skip. This is sports coverage for people who build these things.

Money and drama. Skip. Interesting, changes nothing you do.

A thing you can now do that you could not do last week. This is the entire useful category, and it is maybe two items a month.

Once a week, not every day

Daily is how you end up anxious and knowing nothing. Weekly is enough to never be surprised. Anything that matters is still being talked about seven days later, and the stuff that vanished in three days was never real.

Your weekly catch-up, fifteen minutes Give me the AI news from the last 7 days that would change how a small business owner or a regular person actually works. Skip benchmarks, funding, company drama, and anything I can't use without writing code. For each item: what changed, what I could do with it now that I couldn't before, and whether it costs anything. Maximum five items. If there were fewer than five worth mentioning, give me fewer.

The permission you actually need

You are not behind. Almost nobody is using more than three features of any of these tools. The person who set up one thing properly and uses it every day is far ahead of the person who read about forty and set up none.
